In the early hours of August 14, 2024, the Honorable Zacharia Adamu Umar decided to switch his political allegiance, moving from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the People's Democratic Party (PDP). He had previously vied for the Chairmanship of Jada Local Government under the ADC during the recent Local Government (LG) elections on July 13th.

Following his defeat in the election to Honorable Mohammed Salihu So'o, Hon. Umar expressed concerns regarding the election's integrity and lodged a complaint with the Local Government Election Tribunal in Yola, the state capital.Subsequently, he retracted the complaint, asserting that it had been filed without his authorization and professing his belief in the election's impartiality.

In a public declaration alongside his supporters in his hometown of Kojoli on August 13th, Hon. Umar announced their alignment with the PDP. He elucidated that the decision was driven by a yearning for the advancement and prosperity of Jada Local Government and Adamawa State as a whole.

He urged the inhabitants of Jada LGA to unite behind Honorable Mohammed Salihu and collaborate towards forging a brighter future for their community. He further added that under the governance of His Excellency Rt. Hon. Ahmadu, significant developmental strides have been made for the people of Jada Local Government and the entire state.

There is no doubt that Hon. Mohammed Salihu So'o can replicate and bring forth development to Jada Local Government, which is one of the reasons that led to the defection.

Speaking at the Press Conference, the Party Chairman of ADC and their stakeholders applauded the courage of Hon. Umar for making the rightful decision, that even at the party level of ADC Jada Local Government are solely behind the latest development of Hon. Umar's withdrawal of petition from the tribunal.
