The Gubernatorial Candidate of the Alliance for New Nigeria (ANN), Rev Abel Behora has said that the independence and elevation of the status of various relevant traditional Chiefdoms in Adamawa State will be one of the top priorities of his administration when he assumes office as the next duly elected governor of the state during the February 2019 Polls.
Speaking at the second leg of the official flag off campaign of the party for the Northern Senatorial zone in Michika on Wednesday January 10, 2019, the gubernatorial Candidate expressed concern over the frustrating realities and lack of progression of some local traditional Institutions in the state, a situation he attributed to clear case of repression and internal colonization.
He said the continued denial of the Chiefdoms the right to rapid progression is an act of deliberate violation of their fundamental rights and the principles of social justice, emphasizing that such development is inimical to the growth of our nascent democracy.
He described as unfortunate and uncalled for the lingering conflict surrounding the traditional stool of the Michika community which ended up in court of law following deliberate manipulations to take away what rightly belongs to the people adding that Michika had suffered neglect from the hands of its oppressors as evidenced by the lack of electricity and other social amenities for the past four years and the sustained Boko Haram invasion.
He said that the collective decision of the people to facilitate his electoral victory at the February Polls would mean complete freedom of the people and the establishment of a government based on the principles of social justice.
Abel Behora who called the attention of the electorate to the current bad state of the civil service, promised to professionalize the civil service and make it more vibrant to achieve sustainable development adding that the realities facing the Northern zone particularly Michika provides a better platform for the community to seek responsible leadership which only ANN can provide in this dispensation.
He further drummed up support for the House of Assembly Candidates of Madagali and Michika local governments as well as other ANN candidates to end the perpetual neglect and subjugation suffered by our people.
Also speaking at the occasion, the state chairman of the Party, Mr Ibrahim Bebetu who described the gubernatorial candidate as a tested and trusted home product appealed to the electorate to demonstrate their love for freedom and social justice by voting ANN and its candidates.
He further called on youths and women to embark on massive sensitization of electorates on the symbol of the party and the candidates to ensure electoral victory.
The Director General of the Behora Campaign Organization, Hon Aliyu Abdullahi, the women leader of the party in the state, Mrs Sylvia Mayo, the State youth leader, Orison Offah, and Mr Kevin Damara, a zonal coordinator delivered goodwill messages at the occasion.
Earlier in his welcome Address, the chairman of the party in Michika, Hon Goji Tuba said that the show of support, solidarity and the physical presence of the mammoth crowd at the venue of the flag off is a clear indication of the goodwill enjoyed by the party in the region.
Behora earlier paid homage on the District Head of Michika, Alhaji Saidu Lawal to seek fatherly blessings and to notify him of his decision to participate in the gubernatorial contest.
Receiving the gubernatorial candidate and his entourage in his palace, the traditional chief expressed joy that a son of the land is participating in such a crucial race and wished him the best of luck.
